Since as its summer now and it’s getting much hotter and many of you will be going on holidays, I think it’s really important to know how to care for your skin in hot weather. The beautiful sea above I took from my holiday in Zante last year! In the next few days I’m going to post about my favourite summer beauty products, that I love in the summer months! But for now here are some important rules to stick by:
1. Stay Hydrated
It’s so important during the summer months that you stay hydrated, drinking plenty of water is necessary to have clear, young, healthy looking skin. If your dehydrated your skin will be drier. You should aim to drink 8 glasses of water every day. Don’t skip the moisturiser just because your drinking lots of water, its important to do both…
2. Wear SPF
Many people think you need to be abroad to wear suncream, but protecting your skin from the sun is very important, even on an everyday basis! Opt for make ups that have a slight SPF coverage in them, and for extra protection use suncream on parts of your skin that are in the sun. We all know how painful sunburn is (It happens to me all the time, and I always regret not topping up my suncream!) so try your best to stay protected. I think an SPF of at least 30 is really important to protect your skin from damaging sun rays.
3. Let your skin breathe
Whilst in the sun its important not to cake your face in thick foundation, this will get oily and sweaty in the sun which will clog your pores and cause breakouts. I don’t agree with thick foundation at any time of year, but particularly in summer months I chose a matte foundation, such as a powder or a light BB cream / tinted moisturiser. To be even better use a lighter foundation with SPF!
4. Treat your lips
I think this is one factor that everyone forgets, your lips also need protection in the sun as they are very sensitive. You can get lip balms with SPF in them for when your in the sun, brands such as nivea have these! They’re are especially necessary when abroad in really hot countries.
5. Daily routine
Keep up with your daily skincare routine even in the summer, making sure you always cleanse, tone and moisturise! Don’t be lazy just because your on a holiday, missing a step will effect your skin!
