D.I.Y Facial: Yoghurt and Honey Face Mask
I really love trying to make my own face masks, as I feel there are so many different recipies to try. – I also like the the fact that I know exactly what I’m putting on my face and not a load of skin damaging chemicals! So today, I gave a Natural Yoghurt and Honey Face Mask a try…
In comparison to the avacado face mask and oat face mask I have posted previously, this yoghurt mask felt a lot more like a ‘normal’ face mask. It didn’t feel as disgusting or weird on my face, it applied to my skin so easily and dried on my face too.
I just mixed the left over of natural yoghurt I use in my smoothies with a tea spoon of honey and applied to my face. I left this for 10 minutes and washed off with warm water. I applied a small amount of my cetaphil moisturiser afterwards to maintain the moisture in my skin, and it now feels lovely and soft!
Why did I use these ingredients…
Natural Yoghurt: Natural yoghurt is full of so many vitamins that are good for your skin! It contains vitamin B5 which brightens dull skin, this can help reduce the appearance of acne scars and dark spots. Natural Yoghurt also contains vitamin B2 which helps regenerate skin cells and vitamin B12 which heals rough and uneven skin. It also contains lactic acid which is used in chemical peels, which can exfoliate the epidermis. This helps clear blemishes, fine lines and can moisturise and hydrate your skin.
Honey: I have mentioned this plenty of times – I just love honey! Honey locks in moisture and prevents dryness. It also has anti-microbial properties as it can help in wound healing. Therefore it has known to be helpful in reducing acne scars. It is rich in antioxidants which prevent free radical damage.
I will update tomorrow on whether this has caused me any breakouts, but this has to have been one of my favourite D.I.Y Facials, let me know if you try it!
