I apologise for the lack of updates, starting uni again has been hecktic and much harder! I’m going to start aiming to post every few weeks, but hopefully once or more a week! I mentioned a few posts ago that my daily skincare routine has changed a little since finishing roaccutane. One of my favourite new products is this Eau Thermale Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel.
I recently purchase a healthy skin diet book which had a few hints and tips on facial cleansing etc. I read something on avoiding a chemical called sodium Laureth sulphate. After reading this, I started googling it and found so many posts and websites saying how bad it is for your skin. I went through my bathroom products and found pretty much everything had it in! Shower gels, face washes, face scrubs, hand soaps… Pretty much everything.
Why should you avoid sodium laureth sulphate? Healthy skin has a natural pH of around 4.7, however this chemical has a pH of 10. This means that it can irritate and dry out the skin by stripping it of its natural oils. It can also aggregate acne as a level of acidity (lower pH) is needed to inhibit bacterial activity.
After a long hunt for something that doesn’t contain this ingredient I found this Avené product. It foams up lovely and really gives my skin a clean feeling. I use this morning and night now without fail. I haven’t had any breakouts since using it. And when I used my Loreal micellar water there’s barely any make up on the cotton pads as this face wash cleans my skin so well.
I also love feelunique, my favourite skincare shop, and you can purchase it on there like most of the products I suggest!
