If you’re fed up of spending money on the latest beauty products to hit the shelves and dream of a totally-natural beauty product, worry no more. I’ve trawled through my kitchen cupboards and found plenty of items that double up as beauty products – natural, cheap and ready for you to plaster all over your face when the urge for a teen-movie-self-improvement-montage strikes at 3am. Crank up the Clueless playlist and get ready…
Mineral foundations are a big ‘hype’ today because of all the harsh chemical’s and toxins that are commonly put into make-up and skincare products. And we know that none of those chemicals can be helping our skin. I am a big fan of mineral foundations, particularly bare minerals as they are much safer and cause less harm to your skin. I feel a little less guilty about wearing foundation on my acne-prone skin when I know its less likely to do more bad than good. I recently became aware of an upcoming brand dusty girls, an Australian company with their own mineral foundation, and this made me feel just as good as my trusty bare minerals.
Finding a good over the counter acne treatment can be difficult! Many of them seem harsh and advertise themselves as blackhead busting and blemish reducing, however I am often left with sore, red and unhappy skin. Prescription acne treatments have been the only help for my skin (- read my pills & potions post) and my go-to facial cleansers and toners often change as I find different ones that I like. Clearogen is for sure one of my new favourite drug-store acne treatments! Its a three-step system which is great to enable a routine in your skincare regime and each step works to target acne in various ways. I noticed changes in my skin almost immediately after using this product and even further as the first few months of use continued. I am very happy I found this product, and will definitely continue using it, especially the facial cleanser as this is my favourite component of the kit! So allow me to discuss the basics of Clearogen and show you visibly how it has helped me.
Skin Concerns: Acne / Blemish Prone
I was recently sent a sample of help: clear skin supplements by Works with Water to try. These supplements contain a protein known as lactoferrin. Surprisingly just prior to my discovery of these supplements I had been researching lactoferrin after I read in a magazine about its skin clearing properties.
The aim of these are to take them every day for about a month, I started doing this quite a few months ago and just didn’t keep up with it, this is my own fault due to often forgetting to take it. Recently, I decided to try again and do the rest, the box contained 28 sachets, however, this time I took around 20 sachets (as I had already used some before).
Skin Concerns: Dry Skin / Acne / Combination Skin
I always find it a struggle when my skin is having a really dry week, it gets flaky and sore for no reason whatsoever, and this happens particularly in the winter. As I suffer with eczema, which normally occurs on my body, but sometimes patches of dry skin on my face can feel like eczema. Unfortunately, most products that relieve dryness are unbelievably oily, and I wouldn’t risk applying my eczema treatment on my face in fear of breakouts! For day to day moisturising use, most of us, who suffer with oily skin and acne would use oil-free moisturisers. However, when the skin is incredibly dry these are pretty useless, and I don’t think that they help the situation at all. Therefore, it is very hard to get the right balance, you want to relieve the dryness without making it the skin too oily and causing break outs!
