Hey everyone, here are some recent updates on me eating no dairy for my acne, and how my skin has been doing! I will be posting a new VLOG in the next view days to my youtube
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjPewck10xYZE5RNFqLWGKA which I will also post on here, so please keep an eye out!
Spring break: Spring break has been a little holiday for me, which means lots of eating out, which hasn’t been as hard as I expected! Heres information on some american restaurants that I have been able to eat in for any of my american friends out there. The cheesecake factory was a little difficult, much of their food contained milk, even the burger buns. I managed to eat a club sandwich which was pretty good. A few days we had acai bowls, one without milk and the other with cashew milk these were really good! And I was very happy to find out that In-N-Out burger buns did not contain milk and their fries were not fried in milk, so that was a pretty exciting day. To anyone from the UK or other countries that do not know what In-N-Out is, basically its the west coast’s a million times better version of McDonalds. I’ve also had quite a bit of mexican food, minus cheese and sour cream.. I have just arrived back in Flagstaff my home for the rest of this school year were I will be able to keep making my dairy-free and hopefully healthier meals!
Recipes: I recently made with my friend Rosie a dairy-free banana bread and also some dairy-free flapjack, you can watch this on my latest PRETTY LITTLE VLOG coming in a few days! With the recipe in the description, so please check that out, I promise they’re super good.
Skin: Okay, so obviously most importantly how is my skin. Honestly before I left for spring break my skin was AMAZING, so smooth not a spot in sight (check out my next VLOG soon!) Since I have been away this week I have had a few spots forming mainly around my mouth, not entirely sure why, maybe the travelling, sun, being more tired, not sticking to my skincare routine as strictly whilst being away etc. I’m going to see how it goes now I am back home.
New Email: I have a new email account, specifically for this site, if you need me, any questions or comments please email email@example.com
I’ve read numerous times that dairy is really bad for your skin, and while I’m not religious I decided lent was the perfect time to give it up. My roommate is going vegan so I thought it would be a fun thing to do lent together, and also a perfect time frame to set myself a goal.
It starts tomorrow so over the last weekend I sorted through my cupboards and found all the food I needed to eat up! This included oreos, creamy soup, cakes, cookies and RICE CAKES (yes I did not expect this). Being british, I also love tea, with milk, and I am currently trying alternative milk for this. Yesterday I attempted cashew milk, not the best but not the worst I have tried (coconut milk up to now being the worst). I went shopping yesterday and picked up some rice milk, and almond milk to also try. I plan to make a post on all the different alternatives with pros and cons! Most of all, I am going to miss eating cheese and going out for meals is going to be very difficult. But I’m really willing to give it a go if there is a possibility it could help my skin.
So why dairy. I’ve read numerous articles previously about people cutting out dairy and it leading to a drastic improvement in their skin. There isn’t any direct proof that dairy causes acne, but there are a lot of theories about how it can be bad for acne. According to many sources dairy is pro-inflammatory, which many of you know by now, that inflammation is bad for acne.
I hope to post my first VLOG tomorrow (how exciting)! This will be about the beginning of my journey of no dairy, probably covering some similar points I have mentioned here and more. I really hope to do weekly VLOGs about what I have been eating and the changes in my skin. Please subscribe now so you will see the video when I post it, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjPewck10xYZE5RNFqLWGKA. I need 100 subscribers so I can get my own unique URL so please help me reach that!
I really hope that me putting in the effort to do this can eventually help other people in possibly making diet changes to help their skin (or not if it doesn’t work!).
Oh and now I’ve posted this, it means I can’t back out, so good luck to me!
