I recently took a trip to Holland and Barrett as I wanted some aloe vera gel (I will post a review soon when I have been using it for longer), and there was a buy one get one half price sale, so I couldnt help but buy more products. Stupidly, I ended up buying 3 things – which completely defeats the point. Anyway, one other product I bought was there Manuka Honey Facial Srub. I am always very intrigued to buy Manuka Honey products as it has many skin clearing properties. It also always smells amazing, which is an added bonus.
It is very important to exfoliate your skin weekly no matter what your skin type. But is also important not to over exfoliate your skin. Exfoliation removes the layer of dead skin cells on the skins surface. A build up of dead skin cells means it takes a lot longer for your skin to regenerate new ones leaving your skin dull. It also means your pores can get clogged causing spots and acne. I don’t personally think that using any old scrubs are the useful as they may only make it more irritated! I have never really found an amazing scrub and It has never been my main priority as I don’t use them often but I am very pleased with the result of this.
This scrub contains natural and organic ingredients, to remove impurities and excess oil whilst moisturising the skin. My skin felt very soft after using this and it didn’t give me any extra spots or make my skin sore/red. – and as I already mentioned it smells amazing.
Why Manuka Honey? Manuka Honey is produced by bees from the nectar of Manuka flowers in New Zealand. It has many anti-inflammatory properties and antibacterial properties as it is high in methylglyoxal (MG). If there is a higher concentration of MG then the antibacterial effect will be greater. It has many skin benefits such as moisturising, hydrating, and is very useful in wound healing – which means it is useful in treating scars and aiding in their removal. It has also been known to cause cross linking in collagen fibres which means it will keep you looking younger!
Why Dr. Organics? I have never really used any Dr Organics products before, but recently I am very pleased with the new products I have tried! They use natural and organic ingredients so you know there are no harsh chemicals which are bad for your skin. They never use parabens, perfumes or artificial fragrances. They have so many different ranges from tea tree, coconut oil to snail gel! You can read more about their products at their website here.
Hope you like this product if you try it!
So I have now been on roaccutane (isotretinoin) for 2 months (out of my 5) and I am already starting to see a difference. They say to begin with your skin can get a lot worse which it did but then eventually start to improve. I definitely feel my skin is so much less oily, it feels a lot more matte which is amazing! But they’re not kidding when they tell you that it dries everything out. My hair, skin, lips (especially) and eyes are all a lot drier. As well as giving me more frequent headaches, so it is really important to drink plenty of water! It also feels weird not putting on any spot treatment creams every night, because now I mainly need moisturisers. I mainly use Cetaphil Moisturiser as prescribed by my doctor. If I do get any new spots I occasionally use Manuka Doctors – Blemish Cream which isn’t very drying so it works well. I am still on the hunt to find the best lip balm and have ordered a new one which I will review when I have tried – but currently I am using Aquaphor by Eucerin which I have reviewed here.
One of my top dry skin products at the moment is Eucerin – Aquaphor it essentially feels like vaseline but doesn’t feel as greasy. It is fragrance and preservative free and non-comedogenic so its not harmful for your skin! My lips are extremely dry at the moment, even cracked and this is great for any one who has sore and dry lips – but you can use it anywhere! The one con I would say about this product is that its pretty thick, so the best time for application (particularly on the face) is before bed. I bought this product after reading many reviews that its helpful for people on roaccutane which I feel it is, but anyone who suffers with dry skin this product is perfect!
Buy Now: It is available from boots for just £9 which you can order here.
Recently I was introduced to bare minerals, I’d never really heard much about it before but now I wouldn’t go anywhere without it! It is amazing for anyone with skin issues as it is not bad for your skin in anyway – so you don’t have to feel guilty about wearing it! I love it because it’s really light weight but also provides amazing coverage. I personally use the fairly light original foundation (link to purchase available below) which gives me flawless coverage I need but also doesn’t cause further breakouts! When I started roaccutane I knew my skin would become severely dry and I didn’t know if this powder foundation would be a problem however it’s not! Even though my skin is dry this foundation still works flawlessly – except on the rare occasion when my skin is having a very bad day.
On my birthday recently I went to go buy some more and decided to buy the complexion pack instead, this included the original foundation and matte foundation (in smaller sizes), a bronzer, primer and a brush – and something else? I can happily say that I am pleased with these other products too. The primer allows smoother make up applications and helps soften blemishes and dry skin. The bronzer also gives a very nice glow, and the brush helps for flawless application.
I am still yet to try the matte foundation as my skin is dry at this current time rather than oily I don’t see it necessary – but anyone who has tried and has any opinions please let me know!
so yeah bare minerals is one of my top skincare brands and there are still so many products of theirs I aim to try and will eventually post, the best thing is I know that they will not cause any problems to my easily aggravated skin! – give it a try!
