Finding a good over the counter acne treatment can be difficult! Many of them seem harsh and advertise themselves as blackhead busting and blemish reducing, however I am often left with sore, red and unhappy skin. Prescription acne treatments have been the only help for my skin (- read my pills & potions post) and my go-to facial cleansers and toners often change as I find different ones that I like. Clearogen is for sure one of my new favourite drug-store acne treatments! Its a three-step system which is great to enable a routine in your skincare regime and each step works to target acne in various ways. I noticed changes in my skin almost immediately after using this product and even further as the first few months of use continued. I am very happy I found this product, and will definitely continue using it, especially the facial cleanser as this is my favourite component of the kit! So allow me to discuss the basics of Clearogen and show you visibly how it has helped me.
Skin Concerns: Dry Skin / Acne / Combination Skin
I always find it a struggle when my skin is having a really dry week, it gets flaky and sore for no reason whatsoever, and this happens particularly in the winter. As I suffer with eczema, which normally occurs on my body, but sometimes patches of dry skin on my face can feel like eczema. Unfortunately, most products that relieve dryness are unbelievably oily, and I wouldn’t risk applying my eczema treatment on my face in fear of breakouts! For day to day moisturising use, most of us, who suffer with oily skin and acne would use oil-free moisturisers. However, when the skin is incredibly dry these are pretty useless, and I don’t think that they help the situation at all. Therefore, it is very hard to get the right balance, you want to relieve the dryness without making it the skin too oily and causing break outs!
The Effaclar Range
I have already expressed my love for La roche posay’s efflaclar H. The ultimate anti-redness moisturiser, that actually works after the first use! But isn’t the only good product that is produced la roche posay. I have soon discovered that their entire effaclar range is amazing, particularly for those with acne prone or sensitive skin. Black friday sales made me crazy with this brand this year, my derma centre (which I will tell you now is an amazing retailer of la roche posay and vichy, particularly in the sales!) had a huge 40% off, and I spent barely anything and got lots and lots of different la roche posy products and samples. Of course I stocked up on two or three effaclar H’s.
I’ve been waiting to write this post for a while, I wanted to include all about my skin from the start. Finally explain all the different medications and products I have tried over the past 4/5 years. I also wanted to see how my skin was doing after stopping taking the roaccutane…
So I was very unaware until today that June is actually Acne Awareness Month! Which I think its so exciting and important, after googling it more today I have noticed its not well publicised and not many others are aware of this either.
Suffering with acne is the main reason in which I started this blog and gave me the inspiration to do so as I really want to help others who suffer with it…
